following eric's lead...yet again

Hey everyone!  Most of the people who read this...I haven't seen you in almost two months!  I hope everything is going well for you!  I don't have a lot to report on...but let's see if I can muster up a report of the happenings of Kara!

Okay...first off, the coolest concert ever is happening on campus April 12!  That's right...Ben Folds is coming to WCU and I am so excited...so thrilled that it only cost me 14 dollars!!  That's totally less than the silly service fees from Ticketmaster alone...  I can't wait...seriously.  It should be awesome and I haven't been to a concert since Barenaked Ladies in November...so...yeah, it's been a while.

My classes are going pretty well...I really like my Spanish lit class...I find the subjects that Latin American writers delve into quite interesting...a bit different than American writing...or maybe that is just a foreigner's perspective.  Who knows...it is challenging but a challenge I am up to taking.  I am taking Ab. Psych, Research Methods and BioPsych.  Considering that two of them have take home tests...it is doable...  And my honors classes are...as usual, a mixture of good and bad.  On the bad side...boredom and group projects...on the good side, some really interesting readings and books in "Community and Change"...

Next semester I am taking credits for Research, which is good for graduate school, apparently...so if I like it, I might stick with it...this one is centered in Industrial/Organizational Psych with a specific focus on the effects/reasons/causes of rudeness in the workplace.  I don't know how it will go, but hopefully it will be a good experience...

So one of my fav shows ended...The OC, last night.  It was sad but the finale did not do the show justice.  At least in my opinion...though I actually saw some favorable reviews on tvguide, which usually brutally stabs that show...so who knows...  At least Gilmore Girls (maybe not for long), House and The Office are still going strong...other than that, I don't watch all that much...I still consider myself a tv junkie...it is not a good thing, and maybe I will break it eventually...

I am going to Pittsburgh next weekend for the District Convention of my service group I am a part of, Circle K.  I have mixed feelings because I have so much due/group presentation/tests for the following week.  But it should be fun to dress up for the "Governor's Ball"---whatever that is...I leave Friday around noon and get back probably around 5-6pm on Sunday...should be interesting, those 5 hour car rides to and from...  I have maintained my title as "Editor" for the group which is cool because I enjoy the responsibilities...making newsletters, writing articles, writing letters requesting donations...it definitely fits me...

I guess that is all for now...this weekend I really have nothing planned so...probably tomorrow I will go to brunch with my friends, go to the gym and then start working ahead and doing school work so as to avoid not feeling so overwhelmed following next weekend...we shall see...  Oh yeah and mis padres are dropping off some stuff for me as they make their way onward to my aunt and uncle's wine party...next year I will be able to be a part...well almost!  I had a glass of wine (actually more like a half a glass) last Sunday and was telling my mom how smooth it was and she replied:  "It is sad that my nineteen-year old is telling me about the smoothness of wine..."  What can I say...it really is pretty awesome...I think I have an inherited the taste for it...especially red...  But don't get your hopes up kiddies...I have yet to get drunk...or even drink more than a glass...so...yeah...

PS-I am on such a strange Limp Bizkit kick...really can't explain it...

a little thing we call greatness

Sittin' in my office with a plate of grilled bacon,
Call my man Dwight just to see what was shakin'
Yo Mike, our town is dope and pretty
So check out how we live in the Electric City!

They call it Scranton
What?
The Electric City
Scranton
What?
The Electric City

Call poison control if you're bit by a spider
But check that it's covered by your health care provider!

Procrastinating...just a bit:-)

Well...I am enjoying my fall break...except for the fact that I have been doing work pretty much non stop.  I did get to spend some quality time with my family which was very nice...  And I have had perfect sleep...I guess that is what happens when you have an awesome new, big bed to sleep on...  Icky WCU bed tomorrow night...oh well...  I'll deal.

The one thing I can't complain about this week is that I get to miss both my labs!!  YAY!  So exciting...you have no idea.  Not so much the zoo one (which we conveninently have a test next Monday and then two weeks off!  YIP-a-dee-do-DAH!  It's the chem one that is icky...always.   Karen knows better than everyone.  I complain up until about about 12:55 when I have to go over to the Chem building...

I am currently procrastinating (just a bit) because I am finishing up a lovely researchy/philosophy/education/theoretical/observationy paper about redefining public education (ironically enough, seeing as I am miss Catholic School girl my entire life up until college)...  It is quite interesting, I spent most of the school day (a good 5 hours) at my mom's school, Penn Manor.  I observed three teachers (they have block scheduling)...I learned all about a new approach called "constructivism" which I ended up basing my entire paper on!  Who knew.  I am pretty much just in need of a conclusion.  It won't even be that hard.  But...I figure...hey...I need a xangaish break.

I went to see Little Miss Sunshine (I Steve Carrell...not in an I Jim from the Office way though)...  It is very different, very funny, very sweet in a certain sort of way...go and see it!  It is still at Regal in Millersville, surprisingly enough.  I also saw The Last Kiss a while ago (I don't know if I have writen since I have seen that)---very different than my initial thoughts on what it would be like...but it definitely was allegorical, but definitely made you think about life too.  Both of these are thinking movies, but in different ways.  Ok, and then I saw Dick with Michelle Williams (Jen from Dawson's Creek) and Kirsten Dunst---not a thinking movie, but rather entertaining in a silly sort of way.  It is about Watergate...and Nixon...and Checkers his dog...and two teenage dog walkers...enough said?

So apparently I am getting a new dell laptop tomorrow---I am ridding myself of HP(and I don't mean Harry Potter, Sara!)!  Even my mom's computer is screwing up now...it will fall asleep and then you can't wake it up for hours!!  Ickyness!

Well it is time my friends...it is time.

Oh wait!  Sufjan Stevens is the man...I saw him in concert and I am a convert!  The Henney Buggy Band or whatever it is called is Karen and my theme for life!  Oh yeah and I get to see Paul Simon at Tower Theater a week from tomorrow!  Woohoo to that!  I also saw me some Dave Matthews in action at Farm Aid, talking about tomatoes giving his mom bronchitus...or something!  I am all concerted up!

I got to see Martine a week ago Friday and it was very awesome to finally see her again!  We watched House and it was all good...but with House, how couldn't it be?  We also went to a restaurant aptly named Baxter's...but I didn't get a discount!!

Karen and I have been watching more X Files as of late and we are getting through season 6 pretty steadily.  I believe it might be my favorite season, only because I know it the best out of probably all of them, or tied with 7 for knowing.

Now it is really time for adios and goodbye!  I hope all is well with everyone.  Hit up my comments...I want to know what is going on with all y'all

The Death of a HP Pavilion zv6000....

So yeah...you may have noticed I haven't been on aim, or gone about commenting or even writing on xanga that much.  You may have even noticed a lack of real facebook in my life...the reason my friends...is the icky, sticky situation of my crashing blue screen that happens daily...sometimes 13 or 14 times...  Apparently it is the death of my laptop...who knew.  I don't think there is any salvation for it...I am on my parent's right now...ironically enough also a zv6000 which mysteriously developed a red line running down our screen on the right side...hmmm....wasn't there something in the news about hp...something bad?

It was the perfect computer up until we had the nine key replaced (sending it back to hp) where they proceeded to tell us that my computer had water damage.  This, it did not.  At least not when I sent it to them.  Perhaps it had a tumble as it was being processed from state to state.  Who...knows?

I am home in Lancaster for the weekend.  We celebrated (pre-celebrated) my brother's 23rd birthday at Olive Garden...it was over a 90 minute wait and we weren't out of there until around 10.  INSANITY!  It was good food though.  I always enjoy it.  My mom made a spice cake with raisens and walnuts...also very good...and now I am filled.

Sara and I watched a very awesome episode of Dawson...what else is new?  It was the senior class trip one...with an almost special "Jen/Jackers" hookup...who could forget??

My life is confusing me a lot lately.  Oh well.  My classes are going well though...so I can't complain.  At least not on that front.  I will elaborate more on this...at some point.  Right now I am just tired, and want to sleep in my bed....my nice warm bed, in my icebox chilled room.  It somehow works itself out!  I hope all is well with everyone, it is pretty much going well for me...just a lot of decision making.   A lot.  Comment me if you get a chance.

PS-Eric...I read your comment and decided it was time to give the xanga community (aka....you and Martine?) an update!

So Eric wants me to Update...

Hey all...yeah Eric, I was in the same boat as you...NO comments, thank you very much, from anyone. Though truth be told, I have been avoiding the internet for, I don't even know, subconscious reasons? In any case, I am on tonight so I will try to give you an overall update.

I have been decently busy throughout the summer. As I said before I am a Bank of Lancaster County floater, and this week I have been at the Stone Mill Plaza and King St. I will be at King St. tomorrow and, sadly, Saturday. I pretty much like the job, though I think I did something seriously wrong today...I was over in my drawer by...umm...well the figure doesn't need to be written, but I am positive it was what they call a "proof correction." Whatever...only three more weeks of it... But I do like it..I think.

I went the beach the second week in July and it was pretty fantabulous except for the fact that my bro and Sara couldn't go (well they were there Saturday and a bit of Sunday). It just simply was not the same. No fighting for the tv, or a dirty bathroom (totally my bro on both counts) but...it was also just..quiet, and we missed our chauffer. And all the Wawa runs..and the Munchies (we aren't talking 4:20 y'all).

Speaking of y'all...I get to see Dave Matthews (hopefully Band), John Mellancamp and Willie Nelson (a few others for sure) at Farm Aid in Camden, NJ September 30! Woohoo to that! Can't wait!

I am going back to the Beach with my roomie and my friend Ann next weekend, starting out Saturday morning and coming back sometime Monday afternoon. It should be pretty cool. Karen is driving, so I am so grateful to her about that! She is amazingly cool like that.

Haha...ok just the little dork in me. I now own...all 9 seasons of X Files, the first season of house, two seasons of OC, 5 seasons of Gilmore Girls, 1 season of Dawson, 1 season of Fresh Prince...guys I am a tv junkie! I need help. Stat. As they would say on House...oh god...

Well...what else is new? I desperately need to clean my room and I have a feeling I am going to have to stay up late... See...I got a double bed, my room got repainted, I got new furniture, and have been living in MB's old room, the new guest room, and...well...I have avoided cleaning so, so much. And now it is ridiculous. So...yeah...I forsee a late night tonight....

I guess I better go now. Adios! ~Kara~
